Home made Daing na Bangus

Home made Daing na Bangus

Daing na Banngus is one of the Best Filipino Dishes, mostly it serves in breakfast with a fresh tomato dipped in fish sauce, best with fried rice or garlic rice and a cup of coffee.

Basically it is a milk fish (Bangus)  marinated in vinegar with lots of garlic.

OFW or Overseas Filipino Workers usually crave  for this Dish and mostly it is not available on the grocery store or when it is, it will be kinda expensive.

Surely making your own version of this dish will save you some money and you can also adjust the taste depends on how you like it.

Here are the steps on how to make Home made daing na bangus

  • Take a fresh Bangus or Milk Fish, Make sure that it is fresh, check the color of the eyes, gills and press its meet or body, make sure that when you press it it is not softened.

  • Cut the milk fish in half, start on the head to wards its tail, then remove its gills and intestines, Remember to keep the scale of the fish, so when you fry it, it will not stick on the pan, wash or clean it thoroughly.

  • Smash two (2) gloves of garlic, i recommend to smash the garlic to get its juice and keep also the skin. best to put more garlic for better taste and smell.

  • Crushed some Pepper Corn or you can use also Pepper corn powder.
  •  Salt and Vinegar, i personally recommend apple cider vinegar because it is more pure compare to the other brands and sea salt or rock salt to balance the taste.

  • Place all the ingredients on a bowl, make sure that the fish is properly soaked with vinegar.
  • Cover, Refrigerate, and keep it over night.
  • After marination Deep fry the fish for Best result.
  • Cover the pan when frying to avoid oil splash.

If Bangus or (Milk fish) is not available you can replace it with other fishes like galunggong (roundscad) or Hasa-hasa (mackerel).
